User Interface (UI)

This should have 5 volts DC from pin 7 (ground) to pin 2. Duet User Interface Test

Line Power Filter

This is responsible for providing the clean and reliable voltage necessary for you fancy Duet washer's electronics to work properly. approximately 120VAC in from your home and 120VAC out to the mashers main control.

Motor Control (MCU)

Whirlpool Duet Washer Motor Control Board

The Duet uses a secondary control board to control the washers motor windings. It has 3 main connections.
1. Power in from MS2 on the washer's main control.
2. Power out to the motor windings (3 blue wires)
3. Communication with the washer's main control at the MI3 plug

Motor

This style of Duet washer uses a magnetic rotor which is attached to the washers inner drum. The rotating magnetic field generated by the washers Motor control causes the washer rotor to rotate. These are fairly reliable systems, problems can occur if the windings of the stator coils are damaged and short allowing electricity to bypass portions of the windings full distance. each of the three windings should measure between 8.5Ω - 14Ω of resistance when checked against any other motor winding with a multi meter (the 3 blue wires connected to the Duet motor control unit (MCU)

Door Lock

Whirlpool Duet Washer Door Lock

The Duet door lock's purpose is fairly obvious… Keep your washboard scrubbing arms attached to your body. The Duet door lock has 3 main parts.
1. The door switch tells the Duet control if the door is open. (0Ω when door is closed and Open circuit when door is open at DCS3-1 to DCS3-3)
2. The door lock solenoid locks the washer door. (63Ω DL3-1 to DL3-2 and 63Ω DL3-2 to DL3-3)
3. The door lock switch tells the Duet control if the door is locked. (0Ω when door is locked and Open circuit when door is unlocked at DCS2-1 to DCS2-2)

Water Valve

Whirlpool Duet Washer Water Valve

The Duet washer uses a series of automatic solenoid valves to control hot and cold water flow into the washing machine. When the valve coils are supplied with 120VAC from the Duet washer control they should open and allow water to flow trough the dispensing system into the washer tub. Problems occur when the valve will not open even when supplied with the proper voltage from he control or do not close fully allowing water to move into the washer even when there is no power supplied. (Each valve coil should show some resistance when measured with a multi meter, not open or 0Ω)

Pressure Sensor Switch

The Duet washer pressure sensor switch detects how much water is in the washing machine and reports this information to the Duet main control. The pressure sensor is somewhat difficult to test directly, so the easiest way is to visual check that the pressure hose connecting the switch to the tub is not pinched or kinked. and do a Duet Washer Quick Diagnostic Test (the C06 portion of the quick test should fill the washer to "wash level".

Drain Pump

Whirlpool Duet Washer Drain Pump

The duet washer drain pump's purpose is also fairly obvious… Get that nasty water out of the washer. it connects to the Duet main control at the DP2 connection and should be sent apex. 120VAC to drain. One of the most common problems causing your Duet washer not do drain is not the pump at all but something jamming the pump like a bobby pin or bra wire. If your Duet won't drain you may also want to check for a sock, coins, or lint blocking a hose. Clean out your pockets!

Flow Meter

The Duet washer flow meter is a very reliable device that… measures water flow into the wash tub. If your Duet washer won't fill with water check the easy stuff first, home valves, washer valves… Flow meter is last on the list of possible causes.

Temperature Sensor

The Duet washer temperature sensor detects water temperature and returns that information to the Duet man control, to cycle the water valves or turn the heater on to regulate water temperature. The Duet washer temperature sensor should measure approximately 35.9 thousand Ω at 32ºF and 6.6 thousand Ω at 104ºF at the SET2 connection of the main control

Heater

The Duet washer heater rates the water temperature in the drum to properly resolve detergent and kill bacteria. It should measure about 10Ω - 20Ω at the the Duet control connection HE2.

Dispenser

The Duet washer dispenser has a small motor that moves an internal diverter guiding the fill water into the proper cup… detergent, fabric softener, bleach. The Duet dispenser motor should measure apex. 1400Ω - 1600Ω between DI6-1 and DI6-2.
